End of Jun 07

End of Jun 07

This month is pure fun and I had done a lot of things! Y? Cos I am having a break for my studies! Haa..... So this month I did all the things that I could not do when I am studying. Hee.... Of cos to spend more time with family and frens as well!

Movies: I watched 8 movies this month. Still ok lah. My fav have to go to Transformer and Surf Up. Hmm... had been watching a lot at Cathay instead at GV. Hmm.... Reason being? I also dunno. Haa.... Think GV must show more digital versions of movies.

Gym: Well did my first assessment, which told me to buck up! Also returned to do a lot of classes. Hee.... Also found something fun, Step 1 class. I finally decided to start running and have to say it was fun! Need to buck up more as decided to sign up for the Singapore Bay Run. Hee... 6 km run only lah. Still got Standard Chartered @ the end of the year.

Results: Yes I got back my results. Even though they are not very good, I am still happy as I managed to pass all of them. Haa....

Concerts: Started of with MayDay concert at the start of the month. As usual it is a 3 hours of jumping and standing! It was great and fun! Going for Christina Aguilera's concert tonight. It is my first Ang Mo concert. I am sure that it is going to be great as well!

Diving: I finally got to go diving. All thks to JJ and introduce a group of fun ppl as well! It was good to be back in water! Hee.... I wanna to do more!

Donuts: Yes! I got to eat Krispy Kreme donuts and not the Donut Factory one. No need to queue some more. Haa.....

Sick: After diving, I was down with fever and common flu. Think due to lack of sleep though. Hee... Had a great time sleeping and missing all my gym as well. Haa....

That is pretty much happen in the month of Jun. Hee.... Time really flies fast and it seems that I jz countdown for the new year and the first half of the year is over now. H,mm...... Well school is starting soon again and bear with it as I am reaching the finishing line alr!

Jul is going to be another great month as I got a few plays and concert coming up as well! Hee... Harry potter book and movie coming soon! I got rock climbing on 1st of Jul some more! Haa.... See... it is going to be great fun! Gtg! Cya!

Transformers

Transformers

I won a pair of tickets for the Gala Premiere of Transformers @ The Cathay! I jz came back from the screening and I only got this to say... ...

Transformers is the BEST movie of this summer 2007! It is jz awesome!

The story still about Autobots and the Decepticons fighting over a cube, which contains power. So good vs bad again as usual. Autobots will try not to harm the humans during their missions but Decepticons will do anything to get their mission done.

Have to say the truth, when I first saw the trailer, it did not blew me away. In fact, I did not like the new metallic look for the robots. Usually the trailers are good but then the movie turn out to lousy, as trailers had shown most of the best stuff from the movies. However, for Transformers, the trailer not that good but then the movie turn out to be freaking good!

When the first transformer transform, my jaw dropped! It is really realistic and does not appear to be very fake looking also. Hee... Lots of explosion, lots of action and the story plot is simple and easy to follow as well.

Optimus Prime, looking more mature as a leader.

I was only a bit disappointed that they changed Megatron to a plane, but then how would StarScream hold a big gun then? So it is forgivable! Haa....

Bumble Bee got a new look, prefer the old car though even the new one looks hot!

Overall, I will give this movie 5 stars out of 5!

I am intending to watch it another time! Who wants to watch it with me again?

I want to buy transformer toys also! Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee. Anyone?

Krispy Kreme Experience

Krispy Kreme Experience

My only request for my sis to bring back form Hong Kong is Krispy Kreme Donuts! Reason being, I am too lazy to queue for donuts at Donut Factory and I have heard so much about Krispy Kreme Donuts! Haa....

Finally waited for a week, I went to airport with my parents to "fetch" my sister. For me it is the power of the donuts that made me go all the way to Changi! Haa...

Waited an hour for my donuts, oppz.... I mean my sis. Finally I saw the donuts in her hands. Haa.... I took over the boxes from her and yes the donuts are finally here! Haa.... Seems that a lot of ppl also like the donuts cos they are all holding boxes of it coming out from the arrival hall. Actually my mum saw it and was convinced that they should taste good. Hee....

These are the donuts that I had been waiting for a very long time! My sis bought 3 boxes, 36 donuts, all the way from Hong Kong. A box with original glaze and the rest assorted flavours.

Reached home, open up the boxes while other helped her to unpack. I took one of the original glaze and took a bite. It was great! Pure Happiness! I have never tasted such soft and fluffy donuts! They melt in your mouth and not in your hands. Hee... It is enough to make me fly to Hong Kong every 3 months so that I can eat the donuts! Haa... (Yes I know you will be saying "Crazy" now. Haa....)

Even though I had not tasted the ones @ Donut Factory, I had to declare that Krispy Kreme has the BEST donuts! Hee....

To share my new found joy, I shared the donuts with other ppl as well! Haa... Some of them found it to be too sweet for the liking, not for me though. Yes, I got a sweet tooth.

Out of so many flavours, I like the original glaze, cinnamon and apple, and those with jams inside them. Haa....

So who is going Hong Kong again? Care to bring me a box or 2 of donuts plssssssssssssss? Hee...

Progess of Gymming

Progress of Gymming

One of the things that came along with the gym membership was a fitness check and after a few changes of appointment (due to 1001 reasons), it finally happened! Haa...

So what is this test about? To test BMI and Wellness Age.

So what is wellness age?

It is actually your fitness age in comparison with your chronological age. For example, you may be 30 years old but your body is as fit as a 22 year old! That is good news. However that does not happen to me.

There are 5 main components in assessing your wellness age:

  1. Blood pressure,

  2. Body composition,

  3. Cardiovascular or stamina rating,

  4. Muscular strength and

  5. Flexibility.

Before the test, some of the facts I already know. Mainly I am unfit and overweight. Haa... So cannot hide that up.

The results I got:

  1. Blood pressure: Mild on the high pressure side.

  2. Body composition: Obese, in other words, Very Fat!

  3. Cardiovascular or stamina rating: Fair but need to improve on it.

  4. Muscular strength: Between average and good

  5. Flexibility: Poor. Well I always fail this anyway! Haa....

So all in all my age is 27 and my wellness age is 36. This means I have a body fitness of a 36 yr old man! OMG! *Faint* Sure getting old alr. Haa....

So there are 1001 things to improve on mainly from my weight to my fitness. Haa.... Now planning on the things that I should do to improve and the fitness trainer did give some useful tips on how I can start to improve on it. Hope that the next time I do the same test. I will have a small difference between the actual age and the wellness age. Haa....

Time really flies fast. I had joined the gym for 6 mths alr. Hee... Well my weight have dropped ard 8 to 10 kg. Hee... Pants a little loose, and now more active in sports I think. Haa.... I enjoy going to the gym and doing their classes and using their stations as well. It also give me the motivation when I see other ppl doing the same. Haa...

So now I think the main aim is to lose more weight, ard 18 kg more! Wow! That is a lot. At the same time to do more weights to train up on my muscles. Hee... At the same time still do the classes to build up on my stamina as well!

Now I am thinking if I should get a trainer to assist me in my goals? Hmm.....

Busy Busy Weekend!

Busy Busy Weekend!

Haa... A lot of things happen through this weekend. Lots of things to blog. Haa.... I think I will break them into parts.

Friday night, finally met up with HW. Haa... Partly to see him to make sure he is ok. Hee... Did usual stuff like dinner and shopping then movies. Haa.... So what did we watched? Spider Lilies.

It is about a webcam girl, trying to get a tattoo to spice up with her online customers. Happened to met up with her old neighbour who is her tattooist as well. She saw this spider lilies tattoo on the wall and wanted to do the same as well but did not know the meaning behind the tattoo. Meantime, she also professes her love for tattooist online and tries to seduce her as well.

Overall the movie is good but dun quite like the flashback here and there, keep repeating the same old things, tend to make it boring and confusing as well. I give the movie 3 stars out of 5.

On Sunday, managed to watch Surf Up, a cartoon.

Surf's Up is an animated comedy that delves behind the scenes of the high-octane world of competitive surfing. The file profiles teenage Rockhopper penguin Cody Maverick (Shia LaBeouf), an up-and-coming surfer, as he enters his first pro competition. Followed by a camera crew to document his experiences, Cody leaves his family ad home in Shivepool, Antarctica to travel to Pen Gu Island for the Big Z Memorial Surf Off. Along the way, Cody meets surf nut Chicken Joe (jo Heder), famous surf promoter Reggie Belafonte (James Woods), surf talent scout Mikey Abromowitz (Mario Cantone), and spirited lifeguard Lani Aliikai (Zooey Deschanel), all of whom recognize Cody's passion for surfing, even if it sometimes goes too far. Cody believes that winning will bring him the admiration and respect he desires, but when he unexpectedly comes face-to-face with a washed-up old surfer named Geek (Jeff Bridges), Cody begins to find his own way, and discover that a true winner isn't always the one who comes in first.

Quite like this show and the meanings behind the movie as well. Like the way they drew the water of the sea to be so realistic and makes me want to jump in as well. Overall, I give the movie 4 stars out of 5. Great cartoon!

Hmm... still got a few more movies to watch till the end of summer!

Will follow up with what happen over the weekend in the next few post. Haa.....

Finally... Confirmation!

Finally... Confirmation!

Hee.... After some delay here and there, I finally received my confirmation letter on my current job! Haa.... Hmm... Should be confirmed on 1st May but then now then got letter. Haa.... Well better late than never. Got some surprises in the letter as well!

These few days, I started to go back to gym! Haa... Nearly coughed to death for the classes. I decided to take it slow so did not really go all way out for all the classes. After a week of slacking, my muscles started to ache as well.

One thing good from the illness is I get to lose weight and I lost at least 3 kg. Hmm.... Still remember that my weight shot back up before I was sick and even threaten to create a new record. Haa... Now it went down to the weight that I am happy with. Haa...

Seems like my appetite turn smaller now. I dun have any craving to eat any of my happy food less duo hua. Haa... I am a duo hua siao now! Haa....

Well at least someone is happy with my weight loss and loss of appetite. Haa....

My sis away for a HK trip for one whole week. So envy her! She better buy back the things that I asked her to buy! Haa...

I am feeling tired these few days! I think I need more sleep. ZZzz.....

Movies time after Recovery

Movies time after Recovery

Falling sick is always a sign from your body telling you that you need a rest! That is what happen to me last week and I make sure I really rest until enough. Haa.... I had been sleeping so much that I did not even on my PC at home for the past one week as well. Haa....

So too weak to go to gym and shopping, and I dun want to rot at home already. Well I do need some fresh air! Movies seems the next best thing to do! Haa... I know boring but then I also got movies to catch up ok! So first stop, Zodiac! I had been wanting to catch this show for sometime. GV only showing it at GV Vivocity @ Europa where each ticket cost $10! So what is so good about the cinema? Hmm...

This is a based on the true story of one of the most intriguing unsolved crimes in the nation’s history. As a serial killer terrifies the San Francisco Bay Area and taunts police with his ciphers and letters, investigators in four jurisdictions search for the murderer. The case will become an obsession for four men as their lives and careers are built and destroyed by the endless trail of clues. The movie is quite thrilling and builds up as the police always seem so close to get the murderer but had to let go due to lack of evidence. I give the movie 4.5 stars out of 5, for keeping me at the edge of the seat at times!

Next watched Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Yes finally got to watch this show. Me and LLT thought that no one will be watching the show so I decided to get the tickets at the cinema. Cannot believe it when we were told that only front rows seats are available. WOW! So many ppl had not watched the show yet meh? Haa... It had been showing for 3 weeks alr leh! Knowingly it is a near 3 hrs show, I decided to go and buy the tickets! Poor LLT got to watch it 2nd time with me! Hee...

The movies picks up from the 2nd movie and continues from there onwards. They went to free Cpt Jack Sparrow, hold a pirates meeting and had a big fight with the EIC. Haa... It is interesting how they managed to put Singapore into the movie and it makes it looks no difference from China though. Haa.... It was a cool pirates movie which closes a chapter and opens another one towards the end. So does this means a 4th movie coming soon? Hmm.... Overall, I give the movie 4 stars out of 5.

These 2 days had a fun time jz roaming outside. Haa... The weather so gloomy one. Not a lot of sun like last week where I got tons and tons of sunlight. Finally got to replace my laptop hard disk (Thks to SK!).

The weekend ended with a very fun dinner with all sorts of topics and complaints session going on! Haa...

Sigh a weekend coming to an end soon! So sian going back to work again!

Polarbear have recovered!

After almost a week of fever and common flu, in other words torture, I am on the road of recovery. I think what I lack off was sleep. I have slept enough for the past few days to clock a new sleeping record for myself.

However I am still feeling a bit weak though. So I think I will still keep away from gym until next monday.

For the past few days, I had been eating duo hua for dinner, so poor thing hor. But I also dun have appetite to eat other things as well. Poor me.

Well look on the bright side, it is a good time for me to take a rest and sleep all I want to. Haa... Feeling so shiok to sleep so much as well.

So look out as Polarbear is all ready to go out and play!

A fun weekend diving trip @ Pulau Dayang

A fun weekend diving trip @ Pulau Dayang

The last weekend was well spent with a group of fun people and doing something that I loved doing as well. Scuba Diving! Come to think of it, I had not been diving for the past 1 year alr. I had missed the sun, the sand and the sea. Of cos the underwater world as well.

This time, I will be going to Pulau Dayang for the dives. It is a small little island 5 hrs away from Mersing. Everything is back to the 50s on that island, from standard of living, a small little hut with 2 double deck beds inside and a simple toilet, no TV or handphone reception, back to old simple kampong life.

The trip usually is on a punishing schedule.

Fri, 2000H: Meet at Causeway
Sat, 0000H: Reach Mersing Jetty
Sat, 0430H: Reach Pulau Dayang
Sat, 0500H: Check in room
Sat, 0800H: Wake up call
Sat, 0830H: Breakfast
Sat, 0900H: 1st Dive
Sat, 1200H: Lunch
Sat, 1330H: 2nd Dive
Sat, 1500H: Tea Break
Sat, 1530H: 3rd Dive
Sat, 1700H: Break
Sat, 1830H: Night Dive
Sat, 2030H: Reached Jetty, Bath
Sat, 2100H: Dinner
Sat, 2200H: Light Out
Sun, 0700H: Morning Call
Sun, 0730H: 5th Dive
Sun, 0900H: Breakfast
Sun, 0930H: 6th Dive
Sun, 1100H: End of Dive, Pack up
Sun, 1245H: Ferry back to Mersing
Sun, 1700H: Reach Mersing Jetty
Sun, 2000H: Reach Causeway
Sun, 2100H: Back to Singapore, Home Sweet Home

Wow now come back to think of it, it is really packed and tiring and I did not feel anything when I m diving though. Haa....

So for this trip Dayang still looks the same, peaceful and quiet. The water still in their crystal blue with all the corals and fishes inside. Haa....

The dives are good except now I need more weight on my weight belt. Hmm... Does that mean I am more floatable now? Hmm..... Manage to see a lot of things this time round, saw a huge sea turtle, and crabs during night dive, saw sting ray, trigger fish and many other types of fishes that I dun even recognize them as well. The water was warm yet cooling. It seems that I am always the one to use up all my air in my tank. Seems like my appetite for air had increased. Wonder what had happen even though I try to slowly release all my air. Hmm.... Maybe I need to redo my buoyancy test again.

The food, Hmm.... this time round the food is not that good. More normal food nothing to wow about. Last time the BBQ was great though!

The company. This time round the group of people are fun and crazy to be with. Talked almost everything under the sun and always filled with laughter!

I also got myself a very healthy tan from all the sun, sand and sea. Something that I did not have for a very long time as well.

This trip is worth the money and the time for it. Hope that for the next trip I will be able to go with someone for her Open Water Certification! *WINK*WINK*

Bad side of the trip: I developed high fever on the next day and 1 day MC and still pretty sick now. Hope that I can recover soon and get back to my usual activities! Someone is getting bored alr!

Ocean's 13

Ocean's 13

Today and 2molo, I will be away from office to attend a course. Haa... So fun to get out of office to do something different for a while. The trainer was good though.

After which, I was late for combat class. Then I jz went through the motion for the whole class even though the instructor saw me slacking away and tried to push me harder though. Haa...

Since me and LLT decided to catch a movie after gym, we rushed to the cinema to find that the show (Zodiac) I wanna to watch only left front row seats, so we gave up and bought Ocean's 13 instead. Then we also bought Pirates tickets as well next monday since I am so bent on watching the digital version as well. Kiasu right? Haa....

Since we got 1 hr before the show, decided to do some shopping and in the end bought the adidas t-shirt that I was eyeing on all the time and could not get it at a discounted price at RSH. Since I was there thinking about should I buy it, times flies and we got no time for dinner and have to smuggle kaya bread into the cinema. Haa....

Ocean's 13 was the 3rd movie, I watched the 1st one but not the 2nd one). In this star studded movie, the idea of this show was more or less the same as the 1st movie. It turns out to be great! The way they carry out their revenge and the way they planned their every move was great! I give the movie 4 stars out of 5. Feeling the grove with retro in the movie.

After which went for my fav Rochor "duo hua" as dinner cum supper, then I went home to pack for my diving trip 2nite. Hee... Finally After more than a year I am going to see my underwater frens again!

Men In White

Men In White

Met up with HW today. Hmm... keep having this feeling that he want to jio me out but then I was bz over the weekend. So I decided to jio him out instead. Hee... Then hor it seems that he was not very interested. Haa...

Decided to watch a new local made movie that jz released, Men In White. I know that HW will like this movie as it is a comedy, in chinese and different dialects and it is a crappy show. Haa....

After watching the movie, it was really funny and crappy at the same time. The movie revolving around five cowardly and clueless Singaporean ghosts – a badminton player (Shaun Chen), a gangster girl (Ling Lee), a housewife (Alice Lim) and two hip-hop rappers (Ben Yeung & Xavier Teo), Men In White tells of their misadventures as they stumble through the bizarre rules of ghost-hood.

It was funny when the movie started and it started asking questions about ghost like what food do they eat, do they go to toilet and shit, etc? Then the focus went to the 5 ghost and what they did was funny as well. However midway thru the show, the movie went nosedived when most of the jokes dried up. Overall, the movie was a good movie for weekdays only, 3 stars out of 5.

Had a nice nite to catch up with HW and if you want to ask me out next time, jz ask me direct ok? I will sure make time for u one. Haa....

Stressful Step I

Stressful Step I

After deciding for sometime between movie and step, we decided to go for Step!

Hmm.. After my last experience with Step I last week, I thought that I will be able to handle it well enough. Oh boy! I was so wrong! It started off slowly where things started step by step, however things get complicated when the tempo gets faster and there are more steps to be memorised! All these after a day of work! Haa....
Crazy!

I think I made more mistakes as I cannot concentrate as I was tired and my brain was functioning slower than usual. So I stood there when I got lost and the instructor jz looked at me and kept asking me to carry on. So embarrassed leh! Haa...

After yesterday new combat moves and step, I think these few days my mind is wondering off as I am so bz at work now! Haa...

So looking forward towards my diving trip at end of this week!

Athen, My nephew

Athens, My nephew

Tired after Mayday concert and a swim this morning (OK! More like lazing in a pool), I moved off to my nephew 1st month party! Wow! Come to think of it, I had not seen him since birth cos I was bz with my work and exams! Haa.... So excited to finally see him! Haa....

See he so cute right? Yes he is cute! His mum asked me this question like 5 times!

Spent a lot of time playing with him but then he jz decided that he shall sleep throughout the whole party. Then even he sleeps, he still so cute stretching here and there, making faces at the same time! Haa...

So spent the day rotting, watching DVD (Transformers cartoons), sleeping and catching up with some of my cousins. Too many kids in a day and sort of made me crazy! Too rowdy at times as well. Haa...

So now I m officially an UNCLE. Getting old! Wait till he started to call me "Uncle"! I think I will freak out leh!

MayDay Concert Rocks!

MayDay Concert Rocks!

Jz came back from the most tiring concert of the year, MAYDAY's concert! Oh boy was it great and tiring from all the hand swinging, jumping and standing. Haa.... I think my butt only touch the $150 seat for less than 5 mins during the concert. Haa...

So before the concert, we meet up with a group of frens at vivocity. Since someone is back from some country, he decided to jio all of us out. Sushi Teh we went, 1st time being there was surprised by the good food there as well. A lot of catch up to do since had not met up with the rest for sometime as well. So much fun! So are we going to meet up before you fly off again? I WANNA my "tau gay" chocolate from the bald guy ok!

After which, we moved off for the concert with HC, her 1st MayDay concert? Haa... A lot of ppl heading to the same place as us, EXPO, super ulu lo! Can hold it at indoor stadium next time a not? The concert was a sold out one so expecting at least like 8000 ppl there! Wow! Went in found our seats and have to say that I am quite pleased with the seats even though we did not buy the tickets at IMM. Hee...

Next, people started calling me to ask me if I had arrived and I went around looking for ppl as well. Haa... So in the end, HL, Rachael, Cannie and JJ were there as well. Haa.... LLT and HC also got their frens there as well. Haa... All waiting for the concert to start!

Lights dimmed and screams were heard, then a video started and Mayday no where to be seen! The theme for this concert is to leave the surface of the earth, and I think about the harmful things that are happening around the world now like environment, terrorism etc. The video took 20 to 30 mins before Mayday appeared and everyone was on their feet. Not everyone was willingly to stand but then if the guy in front of you stand. you cannot see, so you have to stand as well. I got the aisle seat so I got a big place to stand. However it was soon invaded by the ppl seating me. Sianz! At least they did not block my view though. Well at least the security guard/usher could have done something!

Mayday sang for a full 1 hour and 17 songs before they take a break. Crazy! Till now it is much more better than MAMBO last wed alr. Haa.... Although they talked less but then all the songs sang were great! Spent a lot of the time doing LOVE in "YMCA" style and before we know it, they were singing their last song. So sad. They did returned for an encore and again it was thumping and rocking all the way to the end. It is like running for 3 hrs! Plus all the shouting and singing, my throat also about to give way as well!

Lucky got HC fren to drive us out of EXPO, it is almost impossible to catch the last train or a cab. We got off at balastier and took a cab home from there. Reached home in record time!

I felt that the last concert was better than this one in terms of the concert pace. This concert started off too slowly (due to the video) and sort of moving slowly to the "high" part. Overall it is still one of the best concert ever attended where everyone was on their feet!

Oh yah can someone inform them that our National Stadium is going to be torn down from 30 Jun onwards and the new one will not be up by 2010. So if they come next year, they only can do it at EXPO or indoor stadium.

So looking forward to their next concert! 2 down, 2 more concerts to go!

Shrek The Third

Shrek The Third

Today is a happy day! After work today, went to gym then moved off to Wakuru, a jap restaurant, where the food was quite good, the price was also reasonable as well.

Next we watch Shrek 3.

Again, this is the 3rd one in the series, it did its usual stuff by mocking all the fairy tales and add in a twist to it as well. This time round Shrek is supposed to take over as King however he did not want to so he had to find the next in line successor, Artie (voice by Justin Timberlake) and all the wonder things that happened along the way as well. This time round, Shrek also had to deal with fatherhood as well another nightmare for him. Donkey was different, he was a father to 4 babies a mixture of dragon and donkey, so cute! So did Shrek found the successor? Hmm.... Well have the say that the story ended "Happily ever after"... ... Overall I gave this movie 3.5 stars out of 5.

After which took a long bus ride home, dun think will ever take that bus again as it is going in circles, rather pay for cab then to waste the time.
