End of Aug 07

End of Aug 07

Another month coming to an end. Sigh.... Time really flies fast, another month gone in a flash.

Nothing new much going on in my life right now, less work and school, which both happen to be killing me at the moment. Hee.... Jz completed my 1st two assignments and going to start on the new ones, once I enjoyed this weekend.

Since I am bz with school, I had not been going to gym on a regular basis, ard 3 times per week. Ever since, I signed up for the 10km run, I had not been running as well. Sigh....

Watched quite a number of movies again but the ones that stood out are Hairspray, 881 and Ratatouille.

Had spent some time with my dear dog Oscar @ the dog run and it was fun!

Next month is really going to heat things up as I am going for reservist for 2 weeks. Going to be fun, going back again. Haa....

Hairspray! I wish I am in the 60s!

Hairspray! I wish I am in the 60s!

Before I start on anything, I like to say that I am a big sucker for musicals! Haa... Regardless they are in the theatre or movie format. Haa.... So you know know where this post is heading towards to!

From Chicago to Phantom of the Opera to Rent to The Producers to Dreamgirls and now HAIRSPRAY! All of the movies mentioned are jz fantastic! Each got their own songs and signatures. It seems that they always get the correct people for the correct role!

Hairspray sets in the 60s where RETRO is at its PEAK! Big, oily looking hair, tight shirts and bell bottom pants! This gal, Tracey Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky, a newcomer who is freaking talented!), with big hair, big personality, big heart who suddenly turns from a nobody to a celebrity on the hottest show on local tv station. She also fights for the rights of the black people, a firm believer of integration! In order words, she is freaking cool! Haa....

Y does she need to fight for the black? Cos during that time as well, only the white can dance with the white and the black can dance with their own group! Race discrimination! The blacks only got a Negro Day a month!

Come to think of it even though there is not much of discrimination now, but then there will always be some of it in some certain part of the world! We need more people like Tracy to help us!

Of cos for the rest of the star cast, are also great. John Travolta as her mum (he is acting as a woman), Michelle Pfeiffer as the villain and producer of the show, Christopher Walken as her dad, Amanda Bynes as her best friend, James Marsden as the host of the tv show, Queen Latifah as the black tv host for the show, Zac Effron as the cute guy with Superman hairstyle, Link, and Brittany Snow as Amber, the blondie.

OF cos being a musical, the songs are great, retro songs with the groove! In fact i loved all the songs in this movie. Haa...

Overall I give this movie 4.75 out of 5! Go and catch it! Think I will go and get the soundtrack and the dvd as well. Hope this movie will do well in the awards as well. Hope they will get nominated for Best Movie in OSCARS! Haa....

Wonder if the musical is going ard the world doing tours? If yes, then when it is coming to Singapore? I am so going to watch it! Haa....

Meantime, I am going to practice on my mash potatoes moves and groove with the music!

Tactless?!?

Tactless?!?

You know now all the insurance agents especially the newbies ones, will always have their roadshows at mrt stations or shopping centres. They are irritating, persistent (even after saying 1001 times NO!) and tactless at times. I met one yesterday. This happens to me when I was walking out of the station.

Insurance Agent (IA): "Are you a Malay?"

Me: "No, I am Chinese."

IA: "You sure? You dun look Chinese!"

Even though she is not the 1st one to say I look Malay, cos I am tanned.

But then when I tell you something, you dun doubt me on it! It seems like she is saying that I am lying to her! WTF! She is simply tactless and could have easily lost a customer like me due to her loose mouth!

Dun think her insurance career is going to last long if she continue like that.

Kiss goodbye to owning a car!

Kiss goodbye to owning a car!

Saw this in the papers this morning: More ERP Gantries and longer ERP hours.

I wondered for the next few years, for one expressway there would be like 10 gantries waiting down the road. it will be worse than paying road tolls. Hmm.... To get from one place to another would have used at least 2 or more expressway. With each gantry, charging from 50 cents to $2.50... Hmm.... You can do the maths!

So now does it mean that all the smaller roads are going to be more crowded, then when no one uses the expressway, gantries would start popping up along the small road as well. That will be driver's worst nightmare! Haa...

Hmm... this plus COE plus new GST and a lot of other little little things, I think I can really kiss my wish to have a car goodbye! Haa...

Bye!

Hmm... BTW that is my dream car at the moment.

881! Yo! Ah! Yo!

881! Yo! Ah! Yo!

This movie deserves a post on its own. Y? Cos It is damned GOOD! So good that to me, IT IS THE BEST LOCAL MOVIE TO DATE! One of the touching movies as well especially the last scene.

The movie is about two gals from different backgrounds got together because of the common interest in getai which only happens during the 7th Month, Hungry Ghost Festival. Cos of their passion they formed a group named "Papaya Sisters", got themselves a manager and started to do their shows. They got popular and "Durian Sisters" got jealous of them and decided to challenge them for a showdown!

The actresses were all good inside, so good that I think they are suitable to go on stage and sing right now. Haa....Which they are doing right now, going around to do promo for the movie on the getai, reaching out to all the heartlanders. Good advertisement.

There are a lot of funny moments in the movie as well, especially on the guy and the cock (Not that but the rooster). Haa.... The songs inside are all good, so good that I bought the soundtrack alr. Hee... The costumes are also very beautifully made, I think they can change up to 3 costumes per song!

After watching this show, I got new respect for the getai singers! Their hardwork, sweat and tears behind the scenes. I always thought it is jz rushing from getai to getai to sing and earn $$. Well now most of the singers are those under age kids. The director really got the essence of the getai and brought it on the screen, even though some parts are too extravagant but overall it fits in the movie nicely.

Overall I give this movie 4.75 out of 5 stars! Go and watch it. Bring your parents along with you as well, as the movie is mostly in hokkien and chinese.

My fav song from the movie.

Lazy day doing lazy things!

Lazy day doing lazy things!

Today is a cloudy and rainy day. Such a good day to waste it, so I continue to hide in my bed. Hee... Decided to give gym a miss since I had worked hard enough yesterday! Excuses. Haa....

LLT got free tickets to watch "The Bourne Ultimatum". I missed out the first two and sort of go in and watch with an open mind.

The movie is for Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) to find back his true identity and who was behind it! He actually run around the glode looking for clues etc. Never expect Matt Damon to be an action star but he did look very good and real in this movie. I give this movie 3 stars out of 5. Maybe I should rent the 1st 2 movies to watch to get the links. Hee...

Since this is a free screening, of cos there are ugly people. Sigh...

1. Before the movie starts, there was a queue system going on. So everyone join the queue. However when the cinema is ready for admission, the queue is gone and everyone rushes forward.

2. Since this is an action movie, how come parents would bring kids less than aged of 5 to the screening? Waste of tickets, then the kids are making tons of noise. I am lucky enough to have 2 such kids running and rolling around throughout the whole movie. The best thing, their parents jz let them run around! What kind of parents allow their kids to be such menace? What are the parents thinking in the 1st place bringing their kids to watch such movies! IOn fact I pity the kids being drags and to watch something they dun like in the 1st place. Sigh....

I dun mind if they are screening cartoons, I will understand that kids will be in the cinema and be noisy but not at some movie that they will not be interested in.

Well it jz spoilt the whole mood of watching movie that I was on the verge of walking out of the cinema and give up watching!

So I am making a plea to all parents: Pls know what movie to bring your kids to watch even though it is free!

Ratatouille

Ratatouille

Won a pair of preview tickets to watch this cartoon almost 2 weeks earlier than other people. Hee...

It is about a rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great chef despite his family’s wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the city of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unwanted visitor in the kitchen at one of Paris’ most exclusive restaurants, Remy forms an unlikely partnership with Linguini, the garbage boy, who inadvertently discovers Remy’s amazing talents. They strike a deal, ultimately setting into motion a hilarious and exciting chain of extraordinary events that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.

Remy finds himself torn between following his dreams or returning forever to his previous existence as a rat. He learns the truth about friendship, family and having no choice but to be who he really is, a rat who wants to be a chef. (Extracted from www.incinemas.com.sg. Hee... Me too lazy to write.)

This animation is the best one I have seen this year. Sorry Shrek 3! All people across all ages should go and watch. I give this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars.

After watching this movie, jz makes me realises to go out and do whatever I wanna to do regardless what other people had said. Like Nike tag line "Just Do It!". I also wanna to go back to Paris! The place is jz great! Missing the place alr...

Blood Test Results

Blood Test Results

A few days ago, I was being "forced" to go for a blood test, not to test for HIV but for Hepatitis A and B. Hee...

Got my results today and it was negative, which means I dun have both but I dun have antibodies for both as well. A big relief for someone! Hee... Then I proceed to do vaccination jabs for both Hep A and B. During the injection, it does not hurt but it does make a dent on my wallet. Ouch!

Got 3 jabs altogether, the 2nd one in 1 mth time (10/09/07)and the 3rd one 6 mths down the road (10/02/08). All for my own good. Hee....

Went to the doc which took care of me since I was a baby and did a lot of catch up as well. It was great to see him again especially I had not visited him for the past 7 years. Hee... It was great seeing him again!

The Simpsons

The Simpsons

After 18 years of waiting, it finally makes it to the big screen. Hee...

The movie started off very promising with the usual tactics of laughing at one self. I like the part where Homer was saying "I can't believe people actually pay to watch something free on TV." Haa.... That is so right!

The theme on the show is about family and environment. As usual both the hero and the villain is Homer Simpson. He adopted a pig (Spider Pig), throw the crap into a river the the whole place was so polluted that The President had to order to place a dome over the town of SpringField to contain the contamination. Well he did no thinking as he is elected TO LEAD AND NOT TO READ! Haa...

After it happen the whole town got to know that the pollution was caused by Homer, the whole family decided to escape by a hole found by Maggie. Homer decided to run away with the family to Alaska (dunno what they are thinking?) but then the family decided to go back and save SpringField. This also shows the love between Marge and Homer, and the problems that they have as any other couples would have.

The show is slightly longer than a TV episode but then it is still packed with jokes. The show is drawn in 2D instead of the 3D which most cartoons are. Overall the show is lame, entertaining and suitable for the whole family to watch. I will give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

Kudos to the Simpsons!
