What kind of service?

Sigh... I am already in sort of a bad mood today yet bad things happened today. In fact in just a few mins ago. I am now sitting at TCC, the one near Plaza Singapura, keying this.

I was waiting for someone to show me a seat when:

Polarbear (PB): Hi, I would like to have an indoor seat near a power point please.

Waiter (W): Good afternoon, we have ran out of indoor seats. How about outdoor seats?

PB: Sure, can I request that once there is an available seat indoor, can I be given the seat?

W: Erhh... Sorry the priority is given to those in the queue.

PB: So are you telling me that you rather have me waiting in the line while not spending money in your cafe?

W: I did not say that. (At this point, I got sort of pissed off.)

PB: In this case, I would rather wait in the line.

W: Please let me go and check if any more seats indoor.

W: There is a table available soon, you can have it.

PB: Thanks.

I really wonder what kind of service or policy is that? Sigh. So if I belong to the impatient kind, I would have walked away from the cafe and NEVER come back.

Avenue Q

Finally today is one of those days that I got to do something in Manila other than work. So what is that? I watched a musical here! Avenue Q! Hee... Yes I know I bought tickets to watch the same show, which will be showing in Singapore in Nov 08!

The play was really good and funny. Good to see a mixture of puppets and people acting. It will take some time to get used to it as well.

The play is about a new guys that shifted into the a new neighbourhood and got used to know new neighbours with a whole of their own problems as well. It covers a range of issues from the normals ones to the unspoken ones. Hee... Wonder if the play will get a rating for it? Haha.... Go to you-tube to find some of the songs and you will understand when you see the songs titles.

So like what I mention before, the play is coming to Singapore at year end. Go and get your tickets from Sistic to enjoy the show!

Slowing down a bit

Ever since I started on this new job, I had been flying in and out of the country. Finally from next week onwards, I can see that I am going to slow down a bit and hope to stay in Singapore more often. Hee...

Well stay in Singapore can be good, at least I will not be working longer hours, yes I spent most of my waking time overseas working. I can be doing things that I used to do like going to the movies and gym as usual. Haha...

So looking forward to getting my old life back. Of course, I will still miss my flying life. Haha.

I am a big fan of this series and finally the movie is here! Woo Hoo!

This movie really bring back the memories from the series. The time that I spent endless nights watching the series. The series were really great! Of course, I have high expectation for this movie. Although a very long movie @ 145 mins, I totally enjoyed every min of it. The plot is evenly spread among the four girls and each intertwine together.

The best thing from the movie is about friendship among girls or guys. It is always good to have a group of close friends who you can reply on and I am lucky and happy to say that I have such friends. The emo side of me does feel for Carrie. Poor girl. However, I am happy for the happy ending.

Overall this film is strictly for SATC fans. I give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5 as it brought back good memories.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Kung Fu Panda

Wow watched 2 movies in a day! Hee... I loved it! Totally crazy! Yes for a movie freak like me.


The first movie is The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. This is the second movie of the series and have to say that my expectations are high as the first one was really good. Seems like a lot of people still watching even though this is out for sometime, I think, as we only managed to get seats 3 row form the front.

The movie plot: "One year after the incredible events of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1300 years have passed in Narnian time. During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy.

The four children will soon meet an intriguing new character: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne. With the help of the kindly dwarf, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep, a badger named Trufflehunter and a Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, the Narnians, led by the mighty knights Peter and Caspian, embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, rescue Narnia from Miraz’s tyrannical hold, and restore magic and glory to the land."

This movie follows where it left off the last one. However if you did not watch the first one don't worry, you actually did not lose out much. You will be able to catch up within 30 mins of the movie.

For me this show is good as well but it is a bit slow when it comes to the war and fight scenes. The plot is simple where the Prince Capsian lost his crown and together with the people of Narnia, they managed to fight off the bad guys. The scenery is beautiful with all the greens and the hills as back drop. Overall I give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5. Looking forward to the 3rd series of this movie.


The second movie is an animated show Kung Fu Panda. We watched the 2315H show, thinking that there should be less kids. I was so wrong, there are tons and tons of kids. What are the parents thinking? It was way past their bedtime! They should be in the bed. Hee...

The plot of the movie is very simple. ""Kung Fu Panda" features Jack Black as Po the Panda, a lowly waiter in a noodle restaurant, who is a kung fu fanatic but whose shape doesn't exactly lend itself to kung fu fighting. In fact, Po's defining characteristic appears to be that he is the laziest of all the animals in ancient China. That's a problem because powerful enemies are at the gates, and all hopes have been pinned on a prophesy naming Po as the "Chosen One" to save the day. A group of martial arts masters are going to need a black belt in patience if they are going to turn this slacker panda into a kung fu fighter before it's too late."

This movie totally rocks! It was way much better than Shrek and both kids and adults will totally loved it! There are a lot of jokes in the movie which are really funny. The main thing I learnt from the movie is as long you put your heart to it and believe in it, you are able to do it. Both the Po, the Panda and the Shi Fu managed to do it in the end. Overall, I give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5. There is a chinese version of this movie, I think I will want to watch it again!. Hee....

Life at work!

Whenever I am overseas at work, I seem like there is nothing else expect work.

For example, I am still in office now! Later once I reach back hotel, I still need to check my emails and work. This will repeat itself everyday! OMG!

Polarbear is down with Stomach Flu

Since yesterday, I had been almost living in the toilet where vomiting and diarrhoea came together as a package. Think that I might be down with stomach flu or food poisoning. Damned the seafood I ate the other night.

Yesterday morning seen one doctor and another one in the night as I had to travel for work today. Seems like the second doctor medicine is more effective as now I spent more time my bedroom resting instead of the toilet.

Had no appetite to eat anything for the past 2 days, I think no oily food or heavy food for me for the next few days as well. Sigh.

Thanks for LLT and family to spend time to take care of me even though I was grouchy or sleepy most of the time.

Had change my flight to tomorrow. Let hope that I can be feeling better for me to travel to tomorrow.

One month into my new job.

Time really flies fast. Today marks the first month into my job and wow what a great change it had brought into my life.

Firstly, I was introduced to Manila, Philippines. Without this job, I don't think I will ever step foot into Manila, unless I took part in the Amazing Race Asia of course. Hee... In fact on my first day of work, I reported to Manila and in the end I spend 3 weeks out of the first month (4 weeks) travelling in and out of Manila.

Secondly, I was opened to the world of Telecommunication. I never knew that I can ever joined this line. I am being thankful for given this chance. Ever I started on this job, it had been a great learning curve where I had been learning something new almost everyday. I was also given a lot of new challenges or responsibilities where I was given a lot of freedom to do what I think is feasible.

Lastly, I get to know a great bunch of people from all nationalities from Singapore to Philippines to UK. There are a lot that I have spoken on Skype but yet to see their face. Hee... This is a good chance for me to learn working with different people from different backgrounds as well.

Of course of all the good things, there are bad things as well like stress, unable to spend time with my family and loved ones and have to be independent when I am all alone overseas. I missed spending time at the gym and with my friends as well.

All in all, I totally dig (LOVE) this job right now. Hope that I can last longer in this job than another other jobs. Haha... How do I celebrate today? I treated myself to a nice quiet dinner at Tony Roma's! Hee...

Happy 2nd Birthday Oscar!

Today is Oscar's second birthday. Time really flies fast. He joined our family when he was 3 months old in July 2006 and now he is 2 years old already.

In my family, we already considered as him as part of a family. He has a house of his own, where he can sleep in and hide all his toys inside as well. He also got an open access to every part of my house, he is now even sleeping on my bed even though he got a house of his own. Haha.

So on this special day, we got him some presents, well a new toy and a new snack for him. Seems like he like it a lot as he refuses to let us take it away from him. Haha.

So Happy Birthday to him again! He is the best dog in the whole wide world! We will always love you!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

This is my first movie that I watched in Manila. I only got this to say, it is freaking cheap to watch a movie in Manila, with each ticket only cost $5. Even their "lazy boy" chair which is equivalent to our "Gold Class", each ticket only cost $10 and it comes with free flow of pop corn and drinks. How cool is that! Too bad, I was too late and all the shows with "lazy boy" chairs are sold out, so in the ed I got to settle for their normal cinema. Their normal cinemas are all like GV Max back home!

So now back to the movie. I did not remember watching the earlier 3 shows but still I think it got nothing to do with the last 3 anyway. Hee... The plot is simple. In order to put back a crystal skull so that the enemy will not get in and in the way he managed to found out he actually got a son.

This show is a really long show. I do like the retro look of the film to keep it in tune with the last 3 shows. Even Harrison Ford is 65 but he sure dun look or act like a 65 guy. Hee.... One thing that I do not agree with is the ending of the show. Too far fetch already la! Hee... Overall I give this show 3.5 stars out of 5.

Maybe I will start to watch the shows in Manila now. Hee...

Team Building @ Tagaytay

For the past 2 days, had been having some fun, a break for the work as well.

So within 3 weeks from joining this new company, I was in time to join in for the team building that was organised by SMART side. So this is also the first time that I will be seeing all the counterparts in the other side. Hee... I expect some but when I turned up in the room, I did not expect to see one whole room of people! Well around 80 plus people and have to say I don't even know 90% of them.

So it started off with some ice breakers before we boarded the bus and head towards Tagaytay. Tagaytay is a volcano (still active one I think) with a lake crater surrounding the crater hole. It was beautiful. Too bad, I did not have the chance to head to the crater hole. Yes! We can take a boat across the lake and climb up the crater. Well, back to the team building, it was done in a amazing race style, where we got to solve and complete different task along the way before we reach the final destination. Along the way, we got to know each other in the team better. I was lucky to be in a fun loving group.

At night we were tasked to reflect the whole process the whole day and ended the night with a get together night which I totally did something embarrassing. After which, we then check into our room for an "early" night rest.

Next day, we started to do the rest of the team building programs before we are back on the bus back.

Overall, I am impressed with everyone as they played as hard as they worked as well. The organisers are great as well, with the whole team building program being carried out seamless. Now I see the faces and know their names. Hope that from now onwards, it will be easier to work from now onwards.

This movie is definitely another chick flick and it makes a prefect date movie! Patrick Dempsey is the prefect lead for these kind of movie, handsome and with the kind of dreamy eyes that will melt thousands of women. The movie plot is possible in real life so therefore makes the story believable. Hmmm but to fall in love and get engaged within 6 weeks is a bit too much... Haha. Overall, I give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. I loved the scenery of Scotland. Hope that I got the chance to visit that country soon.

Too bad, i do not have a very close female friend, if not I will be more than willingly to be her "Maid of Honour". Hee...

US lists polar bears as threatened

"WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US government Wednesday listed polar bears as a threatened species owing to a drastic reduction in Arctic sea ice, but insisted the step did not mark a policy shift to attack global warming.

The announcement by Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne amounted to the government's first use of the Endangered Species Act to acknowledge the loss of an animal habitat caused by climate change.

"While the legal standards under the ESA compel me to list the polar bear as threatened, I want to make clear that this listing will not stop global climate change or prevent any sea ice from melting," Kempthorne told a news conference.

"Any real solution requires action by all major economies for it to be effective," he said, echoing President George W. Bush's reasons for renouncing the Kyoto treaty on global warming.

The Interior Department said that under the ESA, a listing of "threatened" means that a species is at risk of becoming "endangered" within the near future. It is listed as endangered when it faces imminent extinction.

The polar bear now comes under federal protection, but officials were vague about what that would mean in practice, and stressed there would be no halt to oil and gas drilling in the bears' frozen habitat.

Dale Hall, director of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, said he did not want to "prejudge recommendations" by government scientists on how best to protect the bears now.

The Bush administration supports energy exploration in an Alaska wildlife refuge, adamant that industry regulations already exist to protect species such as polar bears, whales, seals and walruses.

Kempthorne did detail greater steps to monitor polar bear populations in Alaska and outlying islands in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas, where the US government this year has sold new leases for oil and gas production.

Hunting of polar bears is already restricted under US law after their numbers fell as low as 12,000 in the 1960s, and Kempthorne said ice melting posed the greatest danger now, not energy production or indigenous peoples.

The iconic bears' population has rebounded to an estimated 20,000-25,000, two-thirds of them in Canada, but Kempthorne said they were "likely to become in danger of extinction in the foreseeable future" without preventive action.

Canadian Environment Minister John Baird said he was not planning to replicate the US designation, arguing that Canada's larger polar bear population was "very different" to America's.

But Baird said he would list the bears as being at risk "in a heartbeat," in line with a Canadian scientific panel's recommendations last month.

The committee had recommended designating Canadian polar bears as a species "of special concern," but not one imminently threatened with extinction.

The US interior secretary displayed satellite images showing Arctic sea ice had fallen to its lowest level ever recorded, 39 percent below the long-term average from 1979 to 2000.

"Today's decision is a tremendous victory for one of the world's most iconic and charismatic animals," said Carter Roberts, president of the US arm of the World Wildlife Fund.

"The other big winner today is sound science, which has clearly trumped politics, providing polar bears a new lease on life," he said.

But WWF and other environmental groups also stressed that the US government, which has resisted all legal efforts to parlay the ESA into a law against climate change, had to address the underlying cause: greenhouse gas emissions.

"Federal protection represents only the tip of the iceberg if Americans want to save the polar bear," said Betsy Loyless, senior vice president of the National Audubon Society.

"Listing the bear as threatened is not going to save it if we continue to melt (ice) and drill its habitat," she said.

Edward Markey, the Democratic chairman of the House of Representatives select committee on global warming, said that at the same time, the US government was allowing Arctic oil and gas drilling to continue "unchecked."

"Essentially, the administration is giving a gift to Big Oil, and short shrift to the polar bear," he said."

OMG! It seems like Polarbear are going to disappear from the face of the earth. That is both bad and sad news!

Where's Polarbear?

Ever since I started working in this new job, I started to travel to this specific country for work quite often. Well for my first monht of work, I will be spending 3 weeks at that country and 1 week in Singapore, of cos I flew back to Singapore at weekends.

Yesterday, my planed landed at the airport at 1650H, and I only got out of the airport at 1800H. I actually queued at the immigration counter for an hour! What a waste of time! This despite all the counters are open.

Well another reason is 2 flights landed at the same time. Still the officers really took their own sweet time to stamp the passport. Sigh. No wonder the travel books all mentioned about the horrible slow immigration counters. This is the same for both entering and exiting from the country.

Tired now!

Within the past 24 hrs, I have done 2 classes of body pump and 3 classes of body combat. By the time, I was doing the last class, I was already pretty tired. Well it has been a long time since I have done that. Hee... Getting slacker alr. However, it was fun and felt good after doing all the classes.

Y m I doing so many classes? Cos I am more busy with work and going to travel more, means less time for gym, so I am doing more at a time. Another reason is I am going for a wedding dinner later as well! Hee... More good food! Hee...

Another summer blockbuster, this time by The Wachowski brothers, who brought us Matrix Trilogy. I only know is this a Japanese comic but that is all. So I just went in and watch the movie. This movie is so different from the Matrix. I think the background of the movies are all CGI, but hey I am not complaining as the end results is realistic and very much colourful! The plot is simple and easy to follow. A kid likes to race since young but grew up to find the real deal of car racing, well something like F1 but their race tracks are really futuristic. It also touches on family ties as well. Rain was in as a supporting role and have to say he did pretty well for the role, more than a pretty wallpaper in the movie. Mentioned before, I am totally blown off by the colour of this movie, everything seems to be 3D. Overall, I give this movie 4 stars out of 5. I totally loved the monkey in the movie!

Superhero Movie

Hmm... Decided to not go to gym but relax and watch a movie. Enjoyed a relaxing evening by watching a lame movie.

So when you have the creators of "The Naked Gun" and "Scary Movie" writing a movie, what kind of movie can you expect? A funny yet lame movie at the same time. This time round they decided to make a spoof of all the Superheroes movies that was out. Luckily Ironman is not out yet, if not I am pretty sure that they will include it in as well. The movie is pretty much based on Spiderman with the rest thrown into it.

This time a guy who got bitten by a dragonfly and got his special powers. Hmm.... Surprise Surprise. Then all the things happened when he is getting used to his powers. Well then thrown in X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. You will get the rest of the movie's plot. So in the end did he learned how to fly? Hmm...

Well I dun find this movie really that funny but LLT was laughing from the start to the end of the movie. I find it more lame and gross at certain parts as well. Then we do need these kind of movies to keep us sane in this world. Wahahaha. Overall, I give this movie 2 stars out of 5. Well there are still some funny parts. Hee...

What a way to start off the summer movie season! This movie is simply FANTASTIC! I am not a very big fan of the comic or the cartoon. Now, I am keen to know more about him! Robert Downey Jr. totally rocks as the lead roll and the rest of the cast are well suited for their rolls as well. As this is the first movie, the director did take his time to slowly tell his story on how Ironman came about. We can see the development of the Iron suit as well. Cool! The plot is simple and tells the start of Ironman. The pace is good, not too fast nor slow. It gives a pretty clear picture on how it came about. The CGI is simple great! I am now looking forward to the sequel to see him fight off the bad guys! Overall, I give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5. Go and watch it!

There is so many super heroes movies coming out this summer! Batman, The Incredible Hulk etc etc. Can foresee me spending more time in cinemas again! Hee...

PS: Pls stay at the end of the credits to see what is going to happen for the sequel! Yes! There is a sequel in the planning already! Coming in 2010!

My "First" Day at Work

Today was the first day that I spent at my new office. Yes, finally I got a job which office is in town area! Hee.... Well yes, I have been there for interview, but they did some renovation in the office. Saw my new colleagues today as well. Managed to do some of the admin stuff and got a new laptop as well. Wahahahaha! Finally! Hee... I still got to set up the laptop on Monday and hope to get all of the admin stuff done by Monday as well.

For the past 4 days, I was away in Manila. It was my first trip there and was quite excited, not to forget to mention stressed as well, to go there as well, especially when I am flying there and back alone. It was like going for amazing race. It was quite good for the following reasons:

1. I finally got to fly on Singapore Airlines. It was very good, from the service to the food. Got a personal entertainment set as well. Managed to catch 2 movies, Jumper and The Bucket List. Even got time to play some of the games as well. For the food, it was simply great! Hope got more chance to fly SQ next time. Not to mention, finally got a job that requires to fly as well! Hee....

2. The hotel that I stayed, Hotel Intercontinental, was simply great. It was right in the middle of the town and was surrounded by shopping centres. I did not managed to have chance to walk around until the last day.

3. My colleagues there are a great bunch of friendly people! I managed to learn a lot from them over then past few days. We will be working very closely together from now onwards.

Heard that there will be a team building for everyone as well and it will be at Philippines as well. hope this is true and will be able to meet the rest of the people that are based in Europe as well.

From now, I think I will be very busy with my new job and not as relaxed as I was in my previous job. Hope that I am able to start contributing soon! Hee....

Today is the start of my new job

Today marks the start of my first day in my new work. I am so excited and nervous right now!

Reason being? I am going to report to airport and fly off for work instead of reporting to the usual office. Exciting right? Yah, I was only started packing a few hours ago. Wahahahaha! I will be only back on Thursday.

The whole of last week I was arranging with the admin on helping me to get the air tickets which was only confirmed last Friday. Really thanks for her help in assisting to get the air tickets.

So now I am going to get ready to report to work already! Wish me luck!

MayDay Concert: Down to Earth

After a year and they are back! This time bigger and better! It was just awesome! Wahahaha! Finally they decided to hold it at Singapore Indoor Stadium instead of the pathetic Expo Hall. It was a good choice as the location was much better. Stage, sound, seating, everything was much better!

This time round, they added something new. They had added a runway along the 2 sides and a bridge that moved up and down. This way, they can get closer to the fans (well those who paid top price only!), they really get so closed that all the fans are touching them all over! Hee...

The format of this year show was more or less same as last year but they did changed the songs. At the start of the concert, all 5 of them came down from a space ship looked alike platform! The concert started off strong and everyone was on their feet the moment the 5 of them appeared on stage! I was quite surprised to see an old lady (at least 60 yrs old and above) seating behind me! I was even more surprised when she stood up in some point of the concert for a short while. Erhh... maybe we were blocking her view lah. Wahahahaha!

The high point of the concert when they started running around the runway and the bridge started to lower! There they were right in front of us cos the bridge was right in front of us! Wahahahaha! Glad that they did spent some time on the bridge. They only used the bridge 2 times. Well, I must say, they should use it more often! Hee....

This time there was not really an encore portion, or was there one? They did not really end with a big bang as I expected. This was quite weak as compared to the last concert! However, my friends and I did enjoyed ourselves very much! Hee....

So they say they will take some time off after this concert to write songs and be back in 2009. 2009? Hmm... That is like next year! If they really come back next year, this means they come back every year for concert since 2007! OMG! They better have a new album in between before they come back again! Not to mention that they are earning big bucks as well!

The first movie is about them going across the state looking for burgers but instead got into a lot of troubles. Now for the second movie, instead of burgers, they are going to Amsterdam to look for Harold dream girl. This time, they got into serious trouble and got suspected to being terrorist. This caused them to be captured and put into Guantanamo Bay. They escaped from it and got to a bottomless party, got all the way to the south of US. All these while trying to get help from a ex classmate. This movie is funny at times but lame for most of the parts, some of it even unbelievable! Overall I give this movie 2 stars out of 5. Only go for it, if you looking for a lame, funny at parts, brainless movie.

My first session of RT

Sigh... The bad thing about failing my IPPT is to do RT session.

There are 2 phases of the RT. The first phase will be 2 sessions a week and the second phase will be 3 sessions a week.

Today is the first session of the RT. It is more of a orientation day. I think the real training will start from the second session onwards.

Well hope this will help me in passing my IPPT! I really hope so.

My last day at work.

Today was my last day at work, manged to do clearance within an hour. So before lunch, I am all ready to leave. Everything went on quite smoothly on the last day. Hee... After saying goodbyes, that was it!

Yesterday, me and a few close colleagues went for a farewell dinner. Crabs @ Mellben! Wow stuff ourselves silly with crabs. Today, they treated me to dim sum at Peach Garden. Hee... Thks for the treat! We shall keep in contact ok!

Now looking forward to a short leave before I start on my new work. There was an email from my new boss asking me to start early if possible. Hee.... Great!

On impulse, decided to go and catch this musical. Bought Cat 2 ($120) quite decent seats and to see that the weekday was not crowded at all! Before I watch this musical, all I knew was it was based on the Queen's song, which really I dunno much less, only know most of them are ROCK n ROLL! (From Sistic)

The musical totally rocks! I loved it! It was also one of the few times that I saw everyone giving standing ovation. The plot was pretty simple but the songs were all awesome! They also made a lot of references to the current rock / pop culture! Even Dick Lee was not spared. Wahahahaha! I am glad that I did not give it a miss. Go and watch it before they disappears! I am so going to get the soundtrack!

One thing I like about watching weekday was there was no crowd. We even sat at Cat 1 seats after interval, so we got "upgraded". I wondered, next time we bought Cat 3 tickets and see if we got upgraded as well. As it seems that Circle 2 and 3 are not opened, so what happened to those ticket holders? Hmm....

A Choir Experience

All thks to LLT and her student, I experienced my first Choir experience @ Victoria Hall. It was a school performance and to let the choir group to have some exposure to perform in front of an audience as well.

Let talk about the performance first. For me, it was a great effort from the students of cos there are things that I can be picky about but overall I enjoyed the performance. The only thing is I dunno what they are singing half the time. The ending finale was, I think, inspired by High School Musical, a whole string of Disney's songs. It was pretty entertaining.

The conductor themselves are pretty entertaining as well. They looked so animated when they are waving their hands!

Next I wanna to talk about the audience. Well since it was a school performance. Most of them are students, or alumni, it does sounds like I am attending a pop concert with all the screams going around me when the concert was about to start. Even when the choir was singing on stage, they also chatted loudly, creating disturbance during the performance. They ought to be taught a lesson on RESPECT!

The next thing I want to touch on is, WHAT ARE THE FASHION SENSE OF THE YOUNG KIDS NOW? They are all trying to dress in order to look older or mature but 80% ended looking like fashion disaster. I think the "Devil" in Prada will murder them the moment she laid her eyes on they. It is so funny to see what they are wearing, especially guys wearing over sized clothes or jackets. I also nearly fainted when I saw them. Of cos, there are kids that are dressed nicely and presentable as well.

I will make sure next time my kid will not make the same mistake! Wahahaha!

Both of us thought that this movie would be an interesting movie so decided to watch it.

The movie is about "a high school student Dawn works hard at suppressing her budding sexuality by being the local chastity group's most active participant. Her task is made even more difficult by her bad boy stepbrother Brad's increasingly provocative behavior at home. A stranger to her own body, innocent Dawn discovers she has a toothed vagina when she becomes the object of violence. As she struggles to comprehend her anatomical uniqueness, Dawn experiences both the pitfalls and the power of being a living example of the vagina dentata myth."

Knowing the plot before watching the movie, thought that it would be an interesting movie. However, it focus on the girl's activities on the chastity group fort he first half of the movie and when she discovered about her specialty, there was no explanation on how did it happened. Somehow the director decided to focus on her going around to bite "things" off from the bad guys when they were taking advantage of her. In the end, from the sweet young innocent girl, she uses it to her advantage and taking revenge on those bad guys. Overall, I give this movie 2 star out of 5. Jz find the movie a bit OTT.

Cannot believe this actually happened!

This morning, got a shocked when my manager told me that HR is asking if I would consider to cut short of my one month notice and leave the company earlier.

My first thought was WHY?

In the end, the answer was so that the company can cut down on the cost and refrain from paying an employee who will be doing nothing until my last day. I "volunteered" to leave early then. For the record, they wanted me to leave like tomorrow, and I pushed it back to next Friday instead.

Based on the contract that I signed with my company was to give ONE MONTH'S NOTICE which I did and now they want me to leave earlier. I still got 4 days of leave which I intend to encash at first, and was approved in the first place. Now it will be used instead.

Well it could be a blessing in disguise but I just dun like the way my company is handling this issue.

If HR is not the one making decisions, I wonder who is the one then? Well I am going to have a good talk with the HR manager during my exit interview. To say that my company is a BIG ESTABLISHED company in Singapore some more and got to resort to this to save cost. OMG!

A trip to the Dentist!

When I was in primary school, I dun like to see a student taking a white card walking into class room. Cos it means someone in the class will be summoned to the dentist! At that time everyone hope that their names will not be called. One of my classmates even burst into tears when her name is being called. Wahahaha!

So when my mum and LLT asked me to go and visit the dentist, I jz chose to ignore it. Then the stress of going started to come in and I decided to jz go and do it for all. An appointment was made with LLT's dentist since her clinic is near my office as well. The days leading to the appointment were very anxious anticipation. Well, the truth is I last visit a dentist was like 2 years ago. I knew my teeth are in very bad state as well.

So on the fateful day (today), we headed toward Apex Dental Surgery after work. The clinic is a small but well equipped one with friendly assistant and dentist as well. I heard that they had been very interested to meet me for the longest time. Wahahaha. It was really very funny and for me embarrassed. It jz felt like meet the parents session. So first in LLT, which only took her like only 20 mins then came my turn!

When I went into the room, I saw nothing but the dentist chair only, but the dentist, Dr Tan, is kind enough to see that I am nervous and made some small talk with me before starting the procedure. After verifying some of my allergies, she began to start work on my teeth. The drill like tool was placed in my mouth and the sound of the drill started to flood into my ears. While she was gently cleaning my teeth, I was like looking somewhere else trying to distract myself, at the same time reminding to open my mouth wide so that the drill will not go crazy in my mouth.

Dr Tan is really professional and gentle, telling me that it will have to take some time for her to clear the dirt in between the teeth and some level of pain might be experienced. In between, she will still engaged me in some small talk, while she is cleaning away. At times, she will stop and ask me rinse my mouth to clear away all the dirt.

After about 40 mins of work and I mean hard work, she is finally done. I am done. Not without her, telling me about my wisdom tooth and my 5 holes that needs fillings as well. The cost of cleaning of teeth $70. Finally the "nightmare" is over and I left the clinic with clean teeth again! Think I will be back soon for the fillings and a 6 monthly check up.

The weekend was super tiring for this Polarbear.

It started off on Friday where he went gym and did Body Pump and Step. It has been a very long time since he did Step, but managed to do the whole routine without any major problems. Wahahahaha! Time to do more Step classes!

Saturday, woke up early to catch one of the Singapore Film Festival movies, Lucky 7 @ National Museum. This experimental film has 7 directors in it, where each of them shot 10 -12 mins of the film, after having watched the last min of work by the last director. The only catch is they have to use the same main actor. Well to me, this movie started off pretty well, but then lost focus in between as each different director tried to tackle different issues but not giving any thoughts to the storyline. Good effort for them.

After which, went to gym to do the last "mixed track" before the launch of the new Body Combat 35 on Sunday. Went home after that cos going clubbing at night! Yeah!

Met up with Claudia, Rayner, Jonathan, Christine and Doris at UE Square, En Japanese Dining Bar, for dinner. (Look out for the review). Yebber people is my new group of Makan kakis. Every meal with them is fun with endless topics as well. The only bad thing is before one dinner is over, we started planning like the next 3 dinners already. Wahahahaha.

Next is the event hat we had been talking for long but yet to be carried out, in the end only 4 people went clubbing! To me, Dbl O is a place where only NS men and girls hang out. Reason being the drinks there are dirt cheap @ $12 per jug! However I think I am wrong, there are a lot of youths (aged 35 and below) there as well. Wahahaha. They still have the bar and the disco area separated, which is good, as when tired can jz walked to the "quiet" area for a while.

In the end, in the castle of Dbl O, there lived a dancing queen, king and prince. Go guess who is the king and queen. What I can say is, I am the prince ok! Wahahahaha! It was retro night but sort of started off a bit late. However, we had fun for nearly 3 hours on the dance floor before we called it a day! Totally crazy!

Slept at 4 plus am but woke up at 8am to go for the launch of Body Combat 35. Well have to say the tracks are not bad but I think will take sometime to get used to it. Do like the Hairspray track though. The conditioning track is also a killer as well. Well good or not good, still going to do it for the next 2 weeks before they mixed the tracks again.

After which, rushed to St Regis. YES! The 6-star hotel for dim sum @ Yan Ting. Thks to someone's recommendation. Even before we pay the cab driver, the doors of the cab were already open by the zealous doorman. Once inside, we were awed by the 1930s European decoration. Even the lift is carpeted with a bench inside some more. Wow! More about the lunch in the review. Hee....

I ended my weekend activities there and went home and rest for the night. Totally shagged out!

Sex Is Zero 2

All thks to Movie Exclusive, I won a pair of preview tickets to watch the show.

The movie takes from off from the first show. 2 students had been dating for 3 years but did not have sex. To the guy, he is always considered a loser as it seems like he is the only one in the school not having sex with his girlfriend. However, there is a reason to why his girlfriend refused to have sex with him. However, in between, the girl's mother came in and stopped the relationship and encouraged the girl to go out with another guy. Well by now you should know how the story ends. Hee....

At first I thought this is going to be one of the lame comedies. I was so wrong. It turned out to be one of the funniest yet touching movie that I have not seen for a very long time. No wonder, it attracted so many people to go and watched the show when it was released in Korea. The both leads are good, however it was the supporting cast that stole the show from them. They were the ones that provided the laughs for the movie. Thinking about it now does makes me feeling happy again. Overall, I gave this movie 4.5 stars out of 5. Go and watch the show with a open heart and you will be rewarded with tons and tons of laughter.

Time for a MAJOR Change.

These few days had been a few "torturing" days for Polarbear. So much so that I had a lasting headache ever!

It started of from one thing to another and before I know it, I was offered a job. Yes a job offer on hand. The job was a challenging yet, to me, it is an interesting, sort of a dream job to me. Of course not to mention the big pay package as well. Hee...

In the end, I decided and tendered my resignation letter yesterday. Well decided to throw it one day earlier so that other people will not think that it is an April Fool's joke.

Anyway, my big boss called me up a few minutes ago, had a short discussion and after listening to me, he encouraged me to take up the job offer as well. It is comforting for him to tell me that I am welcomed back anytime I want to.

So I am serving my notice until end of the month. Should be starting my new job in May.

This will be a Major change in my life yet again and hope that it will be a good change as well! Hee....

A "very excited" Polarbear

Secret Sunshine / Pillowman

This movie is a must see movie by a lot of reviewers and not to mention in the recent Asia Film awards, it managed to win a few big awards!

The movie is about when her husband passes away in an automobile accident, Shin-ae and her son Jun relocate down south to her late husband’s hometown of Miryang. Despite her efforts to settle down in this unfamiliar but much too normal place, she finds that she can’t quite fit in. Helping her out is Kim, a good-intentioned but bothersome bachelor, who owns a car repair shop. Life plods on. However, fate takes a vicious turn when Shin-ae loses her son in the most horrific way a mother could imagine. She turns to Christianity to relieve the pain in her heart, but when even this is not permitted, she wages a war against God.

To me this movie is all about the female lead, Jeon Do-yeon Jeon, she really put on a very solid performance in this movie. I can really feel her anguish when she found out that the person that killed her son told her that God had forgiven him. This movie is not about religion but how someone views religion to seek refuge from. Overall I give this movie 4 stars out of 5. The cinema is very empty when I watch this show. Well can see that PictureHouse is not very popular. To me, I still HATE the seats there! Why Cathay cannot show the movie at PictureHouse and at normal cinema halls as well? There is no price difference anyway. Sigh....

Missed the first run last year and happy to see that they decided to do a re run! WooHoo! The tickets are running out fast for the rerun as well. Lucky to get decent seats though.

Before the show, decided to take a walk Robertson Quay and looked for some place to eat. Decided on Brussel Sprouts. Heard of this place for sometime but had not give it a try. More than happy to give it a try. Look out for the review. All I can say now is it is good to have a nice cold pint of Hoegarden when the weather is freaking hot!

The play is held at SRT, my first visit there. It is a small theatre quite cosy as well. Since the place is small, the actors uses no mic. The seats are not very comfortable especially when the play is freaking long like 3 hours. It does not help when i got a very tall guy seating rite in front of me and I had to shift left and right to see what is happening on the stage. Sigh....

"The Pillowman, written by celebrated Irish dramatist Martin McDonagh, marries comedy and psychological drama. Set in an unnamed totalitarian state, Katurian - a fiction writer of gruesome fairy tales ・has been dragged in by the police for interrogation about crimes committed in his community. They bear an uncanny resemblance to his books. As the police inspectors perform their good cop/bad cop routines to get to the bottom of the case, the audience will be led into the darkly funny and brutal world of the writer's, and perhaps even their own imaginations."

To me, the story is quite written, a dark comedy with a lot of twists. The acting from the actors are very good as well. I wonder how can they stay in the character for so long. The only thing I got to say, the play is a bit too long that at times I find it a bit too draggy. If not, I do find the play entertaining. It is like reading the book where, you just wanna to keep flipping the pages.

Yebber First Birthday Party!

Happy First Birthday Yebber!

Today is the PARTY OF THE YEAR for Yebber! I was more than happy to be invited and be part of the party as well! Woohoo!

Claudia had asked me to be the emcee for the night and I was honoured to do that. Hee... But stressed at the same time. *Sweat* Wahahaha!

The event is held at MINT, a toy museum. A beautiful place where a personal collection of toys were exhibited! I was there before on a guided tour and was really impressed with the collection of toys and not to mention that at any one time, it will only consist of 10% (I think) of the collection where the rest are stored in a warehouse in Ang Mo Kio. This is my second visit to this place and have to say that I was totally impressed and felt in loved with this place in my first visit! It will be a good place to held my 30th birthday there as well. Hee....

A guide there, Roger (I think) was kind enough to show us the rooftop as well, it was good enough to hold a BBQ and at the same time, if there are fireworks at the Marina Bay, it will be a great place to see them there!

We were there to report at 5pm only to find out that we are the earliest. Hee... (Got to mention here we volunteered to help out one hor!) Not long after, the rest of the working party arrived and we started to become movers. Shifting up goodies bag, laptops and many other things. Setting up the place was easy especially with the help of the special staff there. Without them, we could not have get all the things ready in the time before the guests arrived! So exciting! Of cos we still managed to find time to cam whore as well. (Click here for Photos here) In fact we are all excited and crazy for the party to get started!

Seeing Claudia and Darren so stressed out over their speech, they sure got me started to get all nervous as well. I have done a lot of emcee jobs, but this is my first one (The Christmas event don't count) for Yebbers. Got partners, sponsors and Yebber bosses coming, so cannot disgrace Yebber or my face leh. Wahahaha....

Soon the 3rd floor became very crowded with guest and it seems that everyone know everyone. Wahahaha.... It suddenly becomes like a big networking session! For me, I just stand one side making myself sane for the event! Wahahaha! I am quite happy to see a few people who I have know their nicknames and finally got to see them in real life.

Around 7.30pm, decided to start off the event and have to say, it was quite difficult to get everyone attention. A mic will definitely do me good. Lucky for me, I was born with a loud and solid voice. I think everyone did managed to hear me. Hee...

During the party, there are games like Bingo and lucky draw to give away lots of prizes from vouchers, Creative mp3 players, web cams and optical mouses. I was lucky enough to win a Creative Webcam myself. Wahahaha! A bit pai seh to announce my own name some more.

What is a party without food right? There was a buffet of some good and decent food. Have to say that even though I only got time for one serving of food, but have to say that my favourites are the mushroom bruschetta and the chicken. I did not managed to help myself to the desserts where are a lot of tasty looking cakes. What a pity!

The event went through pretty smoothly even though there are small hiccups here and there but overall I give the party 4 stars out of 5 so that there will be room for improvements. Hope I did good enough to make everyone enjoyed the program as well. Hee...

So again A Happy Birthday to Yebber and many more wonderful years to come! Hope to see many of you all in the upcoming events!

Sigh... after Cathay, GV had given in and decided to revise (Read: INCREASE) their ticket prices again! Weekdays tickets cost $7.50 and weekends tickets cost $10 now. OMG!

Watching movies is one of my favourite hobbies and it is really getting more expensive to watch movies now. Maybe should switch to DVD now.

To rub salt into the wound now, HSBC's offer is only valid from Monday to Wednesday (@ $6.50 per ticket) and Safra's disocunt is only on weekends (@ $8.50 per ticket).

At Cathay, with UOB or OCBC discount, it is $6 on weekdays and $8 on weekends.

Now think watching movie at Cathay is a cheaper option now.

So tired after a 5 days trip!

Bangkok was fun! Sleep, eat, shop! Nothing else! Wahahaha....

Bought 1001 things back. At start, our combined luggage weight was 13.3kg and when we came back, the weight was 30.3kg! So can imagine how much things we brought back? Hee...

Will update on my trip later! So tired, going to sleep now! So looking forward to the spa session later in the day.

Rule #1... So what is Rule #1?

Haa... for those who knew me well, would have know that I am a big fan of scary / horror movies. I loved to watch them yet spent half of the time with my hands in front of my eyes. Hee... Yes I am a scary cat. So when this came out, I knew this is one of the movies that I have to watch. Hee....

RULE #1 is a horror-thriller about cops. There are no helpless female victims here. Instead, the prey are policemen who, despite possessing guns, find themselves at their wits’ end when confronted by bloodthirsty ghouls and spirits. RULE #1 takes place in an unnamed Asian city and tells the story about two cops - a rookie and veteran. As the body count rises and our two protagonists find themselves ankle-deep in blood, themes of bonding, faith, heroism and betrayal are explored. As good battles evil, the line is drawn somewhere between the truth and lies. This is no man’s land. This is gray.

I have to say that Kelvin Tong aka the director is back after The Maid. This one has to be one of his best horror movie to date! The story plot is good, with an unexpected twist at the end! There are a lot of scary and suspense scenes which really got me sitting at the edge of the movies like 80% of the time! This movie deserves to be rated 4.5 stars out of 5. Totally scary good!

A day of doing nothing = Relaxation?

Hmm... had to admit that yesterday was not a very good day. So decided to take things easy today and just do nothing for the whole day. Woke up pretty early today but still managed to sleep until lunch time, did managed to feel slightly better after some sleep. Good to have some time for alone and doing things that I have not done for some time.

After which, met up LLT for dinner and decided to watch "The Spiderwick Chronicles".


From the beloved best-selling series of books comes "The Spiderwick Chronicles," a fantasy adventure for the child in all of us. Peculiar things start to happen the moment the Grace family (Jared, his twin brother Simon, sister Mallory and their mom) leave New York and move into the secluded old house owned by their great, great uncle Arthur Spiderwick. Unable to explain the strange disappearances and accidents that seem to be happening on a daily basis, the family blames Jared. When he, Simon and Mallory investigate what's really going on, they uncover the fantastic truth of the Spiderwick estate and of the creatures that inhabit it.

Surprised to see that not much people watching this show, maybe it was on a Sunday evening. I am glad that I watched it and I pretty much like it. It is a kids fantasy movie which a lot of goblins and animals which of cos all are done looking pretty real using CGI. The plot is simple, a troubled family with kids hard to handle, a boy found a book and opened a can of worms, and saved the book. Overall I give this movie 3.5 star out of 5.

So do I feel relaxed today? Hmm... I wonder? Well at least things are back to normal again. Hee...

Jeff Chang & Symphony Orchestra Singapore Concert 2008

Attended his concert today at Max Pavilion with LLT and Pearlina. Well this time round we decided to buy Cat 3 priced tickets as we dun feel a need to seat so front for this concert and thk god we did not. Hee.... the concert was a sold out with a lot of older generation people watching. Hee....

The concert started earlier than usual (@ 8.15pm) with the Symphony Orchestra behind him and a simple designed stage. The stage only got 3 picture frames. The concept of the concert was he used art work to represent his songs, therefore when he was singing, the art works will appear in the frames. Quite interesting concept.

The concert was simple with not much fanfare, when started he walked out and sing, talk, sing. His clothes all come with a lot of blink blink and pls dun get me started on his hairstyle, the only thing I can say is, when he first walked out everyone jz laughed. Still prefer the hairstyle that he had in the poster above. Hee...

Most importantly, for this concert is his songs. He sang almost all the songs that I wanted to listen to and even sang 2 songs from his new album which is coming out in April. I found myself enjoying the concert even though it is more of a sit down and listen kind of concert.

Come to think of it, the very CD that I bought was Jeff Chang CD. Hee...

Well one suggestion to the organisers, next time to hold these kind of concert, it will be good to hold it at the Esplanade. I think it will do both Jeff Chang & Symphony Orchestra justice. To me, Max Pavilion, is not good place to hold these kind of concert.

The concert ended at 10.30pm which means still can take the MRT to go home. Hee...

These few days had been sort of raining on and off. Pretty strange to see March getting so much rain instead of sunshine. So today happened to be one lazy rainy day that we decided to give gym a miss and watch a movie @ AMK Hub instead. Hee... LLT made the choice and we watched Sky of Love. Hmm.. come to think of it recently, I had been watching a lot of emotional heavy movie. Hee...


This movie can be summed in a few words: Boy meets girl, fall in love, cancer come in the way, break up, girl found out the truth, boy dies.

This movie is actually a cell-phone novel (based upon a true story) that moved (downlaoded) 11 million to tears. Uploaded to a cell-phone website, this tale of an average girl’s three stormy years of high school, a saga of love, rape, pregnancy, miscarriage, parting, and reunion.

Well, I am a big sucker for these type of movies. Wahahaha... The movie is simply touching and straight forward with its simple plot. 5 mins into the show, I already knew what the ending is going to be like. The part when the girl found out that the guy got cancer and decided to go back to him, to take care of him. I do find that really touching. Can see that they are really happy together at that period of time. Overall I give this movie 4 stars out of 5. How come all girls like the ah bengs? Hmm...

Hmm... if I can choose, I rather let my partner die first, so that I will be the one to bear the pain of lost and to be lonely. In a way, I rather suffer, instead of her. Hmm... you agree with me on this?

I think all the rain and movies are making me too emotional.

IT Show @ Suntec

IT show was on over the past 4 days. Initially, I did not has any intention to step near the exhibition hall as I knew that tons and tons of people,from 8 months old to 80 years old, will be there! This time round there was nothing that I need to buy so in order for me not to have any temptation, I decided to stay clear of the area.

Maybe I spoke too soon! Hee....

Saturday, decided to pop in just to check on PSP price for my sis since I already promised her to get one and a friend needed to go in and get a MP3 player so in we went into the crowd! OMG! The crowd was really huge and there are a lot of choke points even before we stepped into the exhibition hall. This time round, the IT show occupied 4 floors, which means the whole area already!

Level 1: Canon Redemption Area.

Level 3: Starhub, Sony

Level 4: Major brands

Level 6: All other brands

So this time round went Sony to check PSP price but sad to say there is no promotion. Then to found out that my sis also actually at the IT show as well. Next stop Samsung, squeeze in through the crowd. Totally crazy, with so many people and most of them are either pulling a printer, LCD TV, laptop and many other things! So who say Singaporeans are poor int he first place? Hmm.... My friends got what she wanted and we got out of the place before you can say Samsung! On my way out, made a mental note that they are selling a 32" Sony LCD TV @ $899. Maybe mum is interested. Hee....

Sunday, my sis told my mum about the TV offer, got her excited and decided to go down and take a look. OMG again! On the last day the crowd is simply maddening! Seem like everyone is here for some cheap sales. I think this is one of the few times that me and my mum actually bought something on an impulse. Yes! In less than 5 mins, we are so called proud owners of the TV. Nope I did not pushed the TV all the way home, instead, it will be delivered to my house instead. My aunt was with us as well looking for a digital camera, also in less than 5 mins, she is a proud owner of Ixus 75. Wahahaha. Totally crazy!

After which, we moved out of the area double time, settled all the lucky draw and redemption stuff and end the day with dinner. Pls note that we took less than 10 mins to decide to buy, 30 mins to queue for payment and 30 mins to queue for lucky draw!

This time round although the organisers said that they expanded the walkway to 4 m but I still think they could do better. The management of the place could be done better as well. There is a few bottlenecks especially the one at Food Republic, that one is a killer and with people moving carrying hot food etc. If any one want to do anything funny, they could do it there as there are large boxes lying around at any one time. It seems that they security guard are just minding their own business at the entrance.

I also notice a lot of people just go in and collect brochures. So what is the use of doing that when you dun intend to buy anything? Like to squeeze with the crowd? After collecting the brochure, I am 99% sure that they will land up in the dustbin, worse still on the floors of the exhibition area.

One last complaint, can we bar all the parents from bringing in their baby prams into the exhibition hall. It is already so packed and yet still push a pram along. Babies, young kids and pram should be left outside the hall and have someone to look after them. IT show is not the place for leisure shopping anyway. I gena a lot of time of prams pushed to my poor leg and feet. Not to mention if the kid or baby went missing. OMG!

To survive IT show, you need to decide what you going to buy even before you step into the hall. it is possible now as all the prices would be in the newspapers anyway. Then just stay focus, go in and buy what you want and get out of the place.

Looking at everyone leaving with LVD TVs, printer, laptops... Hmm.... who say Sporeans have no money?

Weekend that zipped past!

This weekend nothing much happen less the IT Show (I will cover it in another post), meet up with the guys and of cos gym (Boring!).

Saturday after gym, met up with my closest group of friends. Hee... not a very big group. Glad that we all still made time to meet up and catch up with each other.
Met at Bugis and landed up at Seafood Harvest for dinner. Bad choice!

Last minute decided to catch Meet the Spartans @ PS.


The movie is a spoof mainly from the movie 300, other movies and a series of TV Show (American Idol, Deal or no Deal, etc)and even what appeared on news also being spoofed. With the director and writers who used to come out with Date movie and Scary movie series well, can expect what kind of crap that came out. Hee...

There is only one word for this movie, LAME! Sad to say it is not funny for like 80% of the time. *Yawn* Still it is good to spend time watching such movies to relax and not to think too much. Hee... Erhh... Overall I give this movie 1 star out of 5, as the actors did take time to shape up like the actual Spartans. Haa...

Sunday after gym, I went to catch "There will be Blood" alone. Thought that no one will be watching such movie but I was so wrong, as I managed to get ticket 3rd row from the front like 10 mins before the movie started.


A sprawling epic of family, faith, power and oil, "There Will Be Blood" is set on the incendiary frontier of California's turn-of-the-century petroleum boom. The story chronicles the life and times of one Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), who transforms himself from a down-and-out silver miner raising a son on his own into a self-made oil tycoon.

When Plainview gets a mysterious tip-off that there's a little town out West where an ocean of oil is oozing out of the ground, he heads with his son, H.W. (Dillon Freasier), to take their chances in dust-worn Little Boston. In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the holy roller church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday (Paul Dano), Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike. But even as the well raises all of their fortunes, nothing will remain the same as conflicts escalate and every human value – love, hope, community, belief, ambition and even the bond between father and son – is imperiled by corruption, deception and the flow of oil.

This movie is a long movie @ 2 hrs and 38 mins, it felt longer than that. First, I have to say that this movie is all about Daniel Day-Lewis, he totally deserves all the Best Actor award he received. The movie shows the like as a oil dealer and digger as well. The danger they faced at work and how they looked for oil. This movie also dealt with the topic of religion. The guys who acted as the preacher is actually also quite good, why he was not nominated as well? Hmm.... Overall, I love the way that they shot the movie, totally took my breath away. I give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5.

After the movie, rushed down to Suntec to meet my mum and sis for the IT Fair, had dinner and went home. Finally, I got to rest! Before I knew it, the weekend was over already.

Happy Birthday Mum!

Today is my mum birthday! Due to some miscommunication before, there are some problems.

So being a good son, I decided to take half day leave and bring the whole family out for lunch. I chose Peach Garden @ Thomson Plaza since my mum like dim sum a lot. (Look out for the review in Yebber soon!) When me and my sis reached the place, she then told me that actually my mum and her had been to this place before already. Still, in the end the whole family enjoyed the lunch and my mum was once again HAPPY!

After which, went to Jane's Cake Station to get a chocolate fudge cake for my mum as well. Supposed to go shopping with my mum for her birthday present but think the lunch made everyone too full and tired.

At night, my mum cooked dinner and we had a mini cake cutting session at home.

After that, me and LLT went to watch this show as she wanna to watch for sometime. P.S. I love you.

Hmm... This is supposed to be a teary movie where everyone around me was saying that it is very good but I think otherwise. Sigh.... The first 10 mins of the movie got me and LLT laughing cos this is what happens in reality, well at least in our lives. Haha...I felt that the story a bit too far-fetched for me to believe it. How could he had predicted Holly every move and make sure all the letters come in time? What if Holly decided to do otherwise instead of following him?

Sad to say also Hilary Swank totally fails to convince me as Holly. She is so not suited for the role. She is good for those boyish tough roles but these kind of girly romantic roles should have left to other actress instead. I am touched by the plot but not by the acting. Overall I give this movie 2.5 stars out of 5. Maybe I should read the book instead. Hmm...

L Change the World: Death Note 3?

To me, this movie is not the 3rd movie of the Death Note series but it is just happened that the same characters are inside.

The story is about after solving the Kira case, another serious case confronts L and he has only 23 days left to solve it. Why 23 days? Cos he wrote his own name in the Death Note. Someone had created a very deadly virus and intend to sell it to the highest bidder. However the antidote was not created. A scientist happened to make the antidote and it nearly fall into the wrong hands. At the same time a village is infected with it but a boy was immune to it. The boy was rescued and sent to L for protection and to find out why. The scientist girl in order to take revenge for her dad, injected herself with the virus sample, but the symptoms where not shown on her as well. So L is out to solve the mystery before he died. Did he died or he did not? Hmm....

At first I thought that this movie is about L finding out the mystery behind the death note. I was so wrong. It was about solving a virus problem. Hmm.... There were some funny moments and exciting moments as well. Still, I dun think it is as good as Death Note 1 and 2. Overall, I give this movie 3 stars out of 5.

We used to be to same class for half a year but never acknowledged each other existence. Dunno what happen and we sort of becoming good frens.

To you, I am jz an acquaintance or even worse a nobody.

To me, you are and still one of my best friends.

Things did not change even when we graduated, went to NS, and started working. We still made time for each other or jz keep each other posted on updates.

Hmm... things started to change when I got attached and you started studying. The distance between us seem getting further and further away. It does not help when I start to wonder about ur career choice and getting a car.

Now it seems like you only contact me when there is problems at school work or when you need help. When I tried to meet you, you are always busy. If other friends can make an effort to meet, I wonder y you can't. I know you really that bz at times but jz to meet up and la kopi, that difficult meh?

A few mins ago, met you to pass you some cd. Talked less than 5 sentences before you drive off. Sigh....

A back to gym weekend! Happy Birthday Siti!

This whole weekend, I am happy to say that I am going back to gym for my classes. Back to my normal routine. Hee... Going back to do pump and combat does take more effort as I had not been doing it regularly.

I also watched 2 movies on Saturday as well. Both are Oscar nominated and therefore I make it a must to watch these films.

First movie is La Vie En Rose. Since the lead actress won the Best Actress, it makes me wonder if she can really win Ellen Page of Juno.


The movie is about the life of Edith Piaf’s life. From the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York, Edith Piaf’s life was a battle to sing and survive, live and love. Raised in poverty, Edith’s magical voice and her passionate romances and friendships with the greatest names of the period - Marlene Dietrich, Yves Montand and others- made her a star all around the world. The true story of her incredible destiny opens a window onto the artist’s soul and into a woman’s heart.

This movie moves forward and backward of her life from childhood to her death. Have to say that the lead actress, Marion Cotillard, really deserved the win. She is really good from all the little small habits to her singing. I am totally impressed by her performance. Overall, I give this movie 4 stars out of 5.

The next movie is No Country for Old Men. This movie is nominated for 8 awards and won 4 awards.

The story begins when Llewelyn Moss (Brolin) finds a pickup truck surrounded by a sentry of dead men. A load of heroin and two million dollars in cash are still in the back. When Moss takes the money, he sets off a chain reaction of catastrophic violence that not even the law - in the person of aging, disillusioned Sheriff Bell (Jones) - can contain. As Moss tries to evade his pursuers - in particular a mysterious mastermind who flips coins for human lives (Bardem) - the film simultaneously strips down the American crime drama and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the Bible and as bloodily contemporary as this morning's headlines.

For the whole movie, it got comedy hidden inside the horror story. Have to say that the directors are really good to make this dark theme film. The murderer is really good and Javier Bardem really deserves the Best Supporting Actor. he is really scary in the movie and as heartless as well. The story line need some thinking to understand what is going on and with the movie ending abrupt, it did surprised most of the movie goers. The movie is exciting at moments yet got comedy hidden here and there. The acting by the main cast are solid! Overall, I give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5. Think I will go and read the book to understand the plot better.

Watched 2 "got a lot of depth" movies really took a toll on me. Tired!

On Sunday, as usual went to gym, then met with Siti and rest of the mentors to celebrate her birthday! Went KTV to celebrate her birthday. Hope you like your present ok! After which, rushed to airport to send LLT's parents off to BKK and at the same time to eat Popeyes Chicken And Biscuits' Gallery. Ate it 2 times in a day! Hee... Totally wonderful.

The weekend yet went past in a flash. So looking forward to my BKK at the end of this month!
